The 2.5D foldable map of Altadena, upright

This project maps grassroots resilience in a Los Angeles foothill community historically marked by segregation and recently devastated by wildfire.

We created a 2.5D foldable map to spatialize how residents rebuilt social fabric through mutual aid. Moving beyond official sites, we charted informal anchors — churches, schools, barbershops, parking lots, and even scorched gathering spaces — where collective memory and solidarity spontaneously converged.

The map visually argues that true spatial justice emerges in these everyday, community-driven acts of reconnection and support across racial lines, making visible a geography of care often absent from formal plans.
